Seven Days in Seoul and Busan: The Bookable Version
A full first-trip schedule with bases, specific neighborhoods, one transfer day, meal suggestions, and a final-flight decision.
Give Seoul four nights and Busan two, with one train journey between them and a departure day that has breathing room. This version assumes an Incheon arrival, four Seoul nights, two Busan nights, and departure from Busan on day seven. For an Incheon return flight, use the alternative below and spend the sixth night in Seoul. Leave a generous buffer between cities and flights.
Planning estimate for the suggested walking sections, not a tracked route. The optional hill, extra neighborhoods, and station transfers can raise the total.
Before you leave
Set up the day.
- Book four Seoul nights in Jongno, Myeongdong, or Hongdae and two Busan nights near Seomyeon, Nampo, or Haeundae. Choose the base according to your evening and departure needs.
- Book Seoul → Busan KTX for day five after your flights are stable. Keep day one and day seven light; reserve any palace garden, special exhibition, or performance separately.
- Check Gyeongbokgung's Tuesday closure. If day two is Tuesday, swap the palace day with day four or choose Changdeokgung subject to its own hours.
Follow the route
Your plan, in order.
Times are suggested planning anchors. Copy the route, then adjust it for your date, opening hours, and pace.
- Day 1 · arrival01
Incheon → Seoul hotel
Choose the AREX service or airport bus that gets you comfortably to your hotel; the fastest train may leave you with the least convenient final walk. Connect your phone, obtain a transit card, check in, and eat within walking distance. If you land early, take one short Cheonggyecheon or neighborhood walk; avoid prepaid evening commitments.
- Day 2 · royal Seoul02
Gyeongbokgung → Insadong → Jongno
Map search: 경복궁
Start at Gyeongbokgung around opening time and give it at least 90 minutes. Have lunch around Insadong, browse one or two craft streets, and spend the evening in Jongno. A museum on the palace grounds or nearby is a useful rain alternative. Verify the current daily opening schedule.
- Day 3 · neighborhood + hill03
Seochon → Tongin Market → Suseongdong Valley
Map search: 통인시장
Begin at Gyeongbokgung Station Exit 2. Walk the Seochon lanes, eat around Tongin Market, and continue toward Suseongdong Valley. Add a lower Inwangsan viewpoint only in safe weather and shoes. Keep the night flexible for a booked performance or a calm dinner.
- Day 4 · contemporary Seoul04
Choose Hongdae/Yeonnam or Seongsu/Seoul Forest
Pick one cluster. Hongdae and Yeonnam suit shops and late food; Seongsu and Seoul Forest suit design and a long walk. Have lunch in the chosen area, then use a museum or café for bad weather. Pack your bags that night and check tomorrow's Seoul departure station.
- Day 5 · transfer05
Seoul Station → Busan Station → Nampo
Map search: 서울역
Reach the KTX station 20–30 minutes early, travel to Busan, and leave bags at your hotel. Spend the afternoon at Jagalchi, BIFF Square, and Gukje Market. Eat in Nampo. This arrival day stays in the old-downtown cluster rather than starting with a long beach transfer.
- Day 6 · coast06
Haeundae → Dongbaekseom → Gwangalli
Map search: 해운대해수욕장
Walk Haeundae Beach early, continue around Dongbaekseom, and have lunch nearby. Choose one optional afternoon activity on the east side, then move to Gwangalli for dinner and bridge lights. Check the journey to your hotel before leaving the beach.
- Day 7 · departure07
Short Busan morning → exit
Use a short morning near your hotel, retrieve bags, and leave a generous margin for Gimhae Airport or your onward train. If your international flight departs from Incheon, return to Seoul on day six evening and shorten the coastal day; sleep near the airport link before flying.
Make it your trip
Useful changes.
- Seven nights rather than six: add a full third Busan day for Yeongdo, Gamcheon, or an east-coast excursion; choose one.
- Stay all seven days in Seoul if changing hotels or taking KTX feels too rushed. Add one day trip instead of moving bases.
- Meals are anchors, not bookings: soup breakfast near the hotel, a proper Seochon lunch, Nampo seafood or gukbap, then a Gwangalli seaside dinner.
