A six-step workbook for pricing the rooms, meals, transport and activities your party actually needs.

Start from one of the nine examples, then replace the inputs with prices for your dates. Keep every amount in won and for the entire party. The examples are spending plans; the checkout total is the booking price.

Before you leave

Set your dates and travelers.

  • Choose the exact dates, number of days and number of hotel nights.
  • Enter both children's ages. This workbook's family example uses ages 7 and 10.
  • Decide whether you want one family room, two rooms or a suite, and obtain a quote that permits every guest.

Build the budget

Your plan, in order.

Use the calculator in the fuller guide, then replace allowances with final quotes for your dates.

  1. Step 1
    01

    Set the party

Choose solo, couple or two adults with two children. Select budget, midrange or luxury as a starting point; mixing styles is allowed.

  2. Step 2
    02

    Price all hotel nights

Use the final tax-inclusive stay price for every room, with all guests entered. Confirm occupancy, beds, breakfast, extra-bed charges and cancellation. For two rooms, add both room prices before calculating the nightly allowance.

  3. Step 3
    03

    Build one food day

Allocate breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and snacks for the whole party, then multiply by travel days. Remove breakfast already paid for in the room rate. Add any special restaurant booking separately.

  4. Step 4
    04

    Separate city and airport travel

Multiply a daily local-transport allowance by days. Add the airport journey in both directions separately. Check rail terminal and destination, children's fares, and the luggage capacity and final price of any car.

  5. Step 5
    05

    Add the actual tickets

List each paid attraction with the appropriate age category. A full-price Lotte World Universal Pass day for this family is ₩234,000 before food or transport. Add mobile data, laundry, storage and other small costs.

  6. Step 6
    06

Add the buffer and your separate purchases

Add a 10% contingency to the on-the-ground subtotal. Then add flights, insurance, entry costs, shopping and intercity journeys from your own quotes. Recheck availability before paying.

Make it your trip

Useful changes.

  • Teenagers: replace child fares and tickets where the operator treats them as youth or adults.
  • Toddlers: price the actual room and breakfast rules; do not assume a free stay includes a bed or breakfast.
  • Luxury: price suites, daily drivers and tasting menus individually. The example is not an upper spending limit.
  • Outside Seoul: replace local room and transport inputs; keep intercity tickets as an additional line.
