Your Seoul Solo-Meal Checklist

Copy the Korean questions and six checks for choosing, ordering and paying for one meal in Seoul.

This is a meal checklist, not a route. Copy it to your phone. The two essential checks are whether one guest can sit and whether the portion you want can be ordered.

Before you leave

Choose a meal that suits you.

  • Save the exact branch and Korean address of your first choice and a nearby alternative.
  • Check today's opening hours, any kitchen break, last orders and the current menu.
  • Keep your dietary restriction in Korean if needed; confirm ingredients before ordering.

At the table

Your plan, in order.

Use these checks when reading a menu. Ingredients, spice and portions vary by kitchen.

  1. 1 · Choose
    01

    Pick the dish and branch

Look for an individual bowl, plate or set. A table grill or large pot needs a portion check. Save a second place nearby and the journey back to your accommodation.

  2. 2 · Before sitting
    02

    Confirm one guest

Show: 혼자 식사할 수 있나요? (Can I eat here alone?) Wait for staff guidance. If the answer is no, use your alternative.

  3. 3 · Before ordering
    03

    Confirm the minimum

Point to your dish and show: 이 메뉴는 1인분 주문할 수 있나요? (Can I order one portion of this dish?) If needed: 최소 몇 인분 주문해야 하나요? (What is the minimum number of portions?) 1인분 is a portion label, not a solo-seating guarantee.

  4. 4 · Check the bill
    04

    Count the complete order

Show: 밥이 포함되어 있나요? (Is rice included?) and 총 얼마인가요? (How much is it in total?) Include required portions, rice, drinks and extras. Example only: ₩18,000 × 2 required meat portions = ₩36,000 before extras.

  5. 5 · Order
    05

Agree to the meal you want

Confirm ingredients, spice and quantity. Follow the staff, kiosk or tablet system and check when to pay. If the order is unsuitable, ask 포장할 수 있나요? (Can I order takeaway?) or go to your saved alternative; takeaway rules can differ.

  6. 6 · Finish
    06

    Pay and carry on

Show: 계산해 주세요. (Please let me pay.) Check the bill, pay as directed and follow your saved onward or return journey. No restaurant tip is required.

Make it your trip

Useful changes.

  • Small appetite? Choose a confirmed individual serving rather than paying for unwanted extra portions.
  • Want barbecue? Confirm solo seating and the initial meat minimum separately. Check the complete cost before accepting.
  • Queue or refusal? Use the nearby alternative. Ask staff about solo seats where the official listing describes them.
  • Food restriction? Check fillings, sauces and stock with staff. The appearance of the dish is not ingredient confirmation.
