Choose one branch below, not all three. The suggested visit lengths are planning allowances, not timed routes or promises about queues. Keep your existing bookings in mind before changing the day.

Before you leave

Set up the day.

  • Check the current forecast and warnings, then decide whether an outing is sensible.
  • Compare your hotel-to-door journey for Ichon, MMCA Seoul and COEX; choose the area that fits your interests and travel time.
  • Check the exact date, gallery closures and ticket availability. Save the Korean venue name and your hotel address.

Follow the route

Your plan, in order.

Times are suggested planning anchors. Copy the route, then adjust it for your date, opening hours, and pace.

  1. 1 · Decide
    01

    One area

Choose Ichon for history, MMCA Seoul for contemporary art and tea, or COEX for indoor browsing and lunch. If you only want a restful break, choose one café close to where you already are.

  2. 2 · Reach the door
    02

    Check the last part

Ichon: follow museum-passage signs and keep an umbrella for the exposed approach. MMCA: allow for the street walk and movement between spaces. COEX: follow the mall connection from Samseong or Bongeunsa rather than a street-level detour.

  3. 3 · Main stop
    03

    Allow 1½–2 hours

Museum choices: pick a manageable selection of galleries. COEX: visit the library and browse a few shops. Shorten this block if you are tired, or extend it if something holds your attention. Do not add a second district.

  4. 4 · Eat and sit
    04

    Allow 45–60 minutes

Use the museum's current on-site dining options or a COEX restaurant. For MMCA, check the listed tea house or café; nearby street dining is optional if conditions suit it. Read the menu price and check seating before ordering.

  5. 5 · Optional extra
    05

    A shop or another gallery

Choose one close extra only if you want it. A museum shop or another browse inside the mall is easy to shorten. Leave gardens, temple grounds and a distant café for a drier day.

  6. 6 · Leave
    06

    The easiest journey home

Check the weather and service notices again before leaving. Return by the route that works now rather than the one you saved in the morning. If conditions worsen, follow local guidance and delay nonessential travel.

Make it your trip

Useful changes.

  • Only two hours: one exhibition or a short library visit, then one drink. Remove lunch if you have already eaten.
  • With children: use their interests and energy to choose the main stop. Do not count on a National Museum children's session without a reservation.
  • Keeping costs low: choose the National Museum's free permanent galleries or COEX's free library; food, transport and purchases remain separate.
  • Rain eases: add one nearby outdoor stop if conditions are comfortable. Keep the second district off the plan.
