Before you leave

Set up the day.

  • Choose a date, check palace notices and save your accommodation’s Korean address.
  • Choose lunch within Seochon and one nearby alternative. Confirm actual restaurant hours.
  • Check the complete outward and return journeys, including entrances and any lift access you need.

Follow the route

Your plan, in order.

Times are suggested planning anchors. Copy the route, then adjust it for your date, opening hours, and pace.

  1. Plan first
    01

    Choose the main experience

Write “Gyeongbokgung” at the top of the day. Add lunch in Seochon and mark any later museum or café as optional. Do not add a second distant shopping district.

  2. Before booking
    02

    Check your date

Check palace admission, closing day and last entry using the official visitor information. A special activity or rental has its own conditions. Move the whole outing if your chosen date does not work.

  3. Before leaving
    03

    Save the journeys

Search the exact palace entrance and your lunch address in a local map app. Allow for the complete journey from your accommodation. Save the return route and confirm access details if stairs are a concern.

  4. Around 10:00
    04

    Gyeongbokgung Palace

    Map search: 경복궁

Give the palace about two hours as a starting allowance. Spend longer if it is the main reason for your visit. Follow current site instructions and keep the rest of the day flexible.

  5. Around 12:30
    05

    Lunch in Seochon

    Map search: 서촌

Choose a meal nearby and sit down properly. If your first choice has a queue you do not want, use the saved alternative. Lunch is part of the outing.

  6. Early afternoon
    06

    Seochon lanes and a break

Browse the streets that interest you, then pause for a drink or a seat. Check the exact walk and surfaces before adding a longer route. Keep this part short when the weather or your energy calls for it.

  7. Mid-afternoon
    07

    Choose the extra or finish

Add one nearby museum or café only if its hours, entry rules and your energy fit. Otherwise head back or find an early dinner. Leave a spare hour free of appointments.

Make it your trip

Useful changes.

  • Arriving today? Keep the outing near your accommodation; save the palace for a full day.
  • Traveling with children? Shorten the palace visit, plan a meal they can eat and protect a rest or nap break.
  • Rain, heat or reduced mobility? Choose shorter walks or a suitable indoor stop after checking entrances, lifts and transport. This sample is not a verified step-free route.
  • Prefer Seongsu? Replace the palace with your main shop or café, keep lunch nearby and use Seoul Forest as the optional extra.
